Male genital hair removal: yes or no?

Male genital hair removal: yes or no?
Created at 13 Jan 2021

Male genital hair removal is a subject that still causes some doubts among some men. Among the questions that most plague them, we can list the following: should I do it? Does my partner want me to do it? Do I lose my masculinity by doing it? How to do it?

With this article we will answer these and many other questions related to this subject, so that the reader better understands what male genital hair removal is, what are the advantages and even the hygienic benefits that it can bring you.

The first thing you should keep in mind is that, contrary to the preconceived and retrograde ideas that your peers may have transmitted to you, genital hair removal is not just something exclusive to women. This is so wrong. There are many men who have already adopted this fashion and simply can't live without it.

But don't think it's mandatory either. It is not and it will not be! Just as there are men who prefer women with hair on their genitals, there are also women who prefer hairy men. Just as there are women who do not feel comfortable shaving their genital area, there are also men who do not feel comfortable doing so.

It is up to the reader to decide what their preference is and put it into practice, without ever forgetting the fact that it is their well-being that comes first. But we also advise you to talk to your partner about this matter and together try to reach an agreement on how to proceed.

Why should I shave my genital area?

Let's start with the reasons why you should shave your genital area.

Firstly for hygiene reasons. A shaved genital area is more hygienic than one that is not. The hair ends up absorbing sweat and in some situations can even help with greater sweat production. During sexual intercourse, this can cause unpleasant odors and the presence of hair also becomes quite uncomfortable when practicing oral sex.

Secondly, for aesthetic reasons. Although there may be women who prefer men with hair, the number of women who prefer shaved men is substantially greater.

Your confidence and self-esteem will also be reinforced with this process, because if the reader is one of those men who is not in the habit of shaving, he will notice a difference in himself. A difference that is linked to a trendy change that will give you more confidence and an improvement in your attitude.

How to shave the genital area?

The genital area is a very sensitive area and, as such, you should pay maximum attention and care when shaving. You can do it yourself, if you feel comfortable with it and know how to do it, or you can enlist the help of a professional.

Hair removal can be done in different ways: laser, blade, machine, wax or depilatory creams. Below, we will explain all these ways so that the reader can decide which one best suits them. Either way, first see if you can do it yourself or if you need professional help.

Laser Hair Removal

Let's start with laser hair removal. It is, without a doubt, a large investment and a moderate level of pain. But after a few sessions, the issue is resolved. This way, the hair will not grow back, so if you want to let the hair grow back at a later time, this may not be the best option.

Shaving Hair Removal

Shaving with a razor is the most common. It's the quickest and easiest way to do genital hair removal. However, be careful when using this method, as we are talking about a very sensitive area and where it is not advisable to make a deep cut at all, as there are many blood vessels crossing the region. One of the cons of this method is that the first few times, it is normal to feel a little burning and some irritation when the hair starts to grow again.

Depilatory machines

Waxing with a machine is also one of the quickest and most practical, but it is more painful than waxing with a razor, as depilatory machines are not like trimming machines. While trimmers (like shavers and hair clippers) trim or cut the hair, waxing machines pull or pull out the hair, so you feel pain, however small.

Waxing

Waxing is the most painful, at least until you are used to it. But it is without a doubt the one that pays off the most. It is a quick way to perform genital hair removal and is the one (with the exception of laser hair removal) that means the area remains shaved for a longer period of time. We advise that you do not pull the depilatory strip that you place over the wax too tightly, as it is a sensitive area and could cause serious irritation or burns, as the wax is applied when it is hot.

Depilatory creams

Depilatory creams are not recommended for shaving the genital area, as any carelessness could cause an infection or cause a burn. Even so, it is not prohibited to shave the genital area using this method. Although we do not advise, we leave it up to the reader.
